Rotary in Pleven

The Rotary Club in Pleven was founded on May 14, 1937, with club number - 4273. The fourth out-of-capital one club, after those in Varna (1935), Ruse (1936) and Burgas (April 1937).
Among the Board of Founders are the names of Georgi Bakalov and Dr. Nikola Shumelov, and the club itself initially numbered 22 people. The preserved scarce archives from that time also include the names of the people of Pleven: Nikola Petsev, Dr. Siromahov, Dr. Urmanov, Ivan Popov, Mihail Dikov, Asparuh Georgiev, Yosif Yordanov.
Club sponsor is RC Sofia (founded in May 1933) with those responsible for establishing the club: Prof. Dim. Atanasov, Eng. L. Bozhkov (District Governor of District 86) and St. Мошанов. Together with RC Gorna Oryahovitsa in 1938 the Pleven club is a sponsor of the Rotary Club in Veliko Tarnovo.
The Rotary Club of Pleven ceased its activities (according to documents from RI - on April 7, 1941) together with the other clubs from district 86 "Bulgaria" falling under the prohibition of the Law for protection of the nation from December 1940. .

The Rotary activity in Pleven was resumed at the beginning of 1993 by Kazakov - PhD, A. Popov , Tz. Ankov, D. Mitcarkin, I. Bochukov - PhD and others. Thanks to their efforts a Rotary Club was founded, which on 2 June 1995 received the Chart of Rotary International with club number 30842.

Rotary Club Pleven Centrum was based on RC "Pleven". It was charted on 22 May 2001 to District 2480 with club number 55633. Sponsoring club was Sofia Vitosha,
